Insulation is the heart of any ultra-low freezer, and the LAB8R6 uses 4.5-inch-thick cabinet walls built around more than eight layers of D-shaped cooling pipe to hold temperature stability even during ambient temperature swings or brief power interruptions. A hermetically sealed compressor runs on a CARB-compliant, CFC-free hydrocarbon refrigerant, and a digital microprocessor thermostat with front-mounted controls lets staff select Celsius or Fahrenheit readout and monitor the set point at a glance.

Safety and monitoring are built in: a high/low temperature audible alarm flags excursions before they become a loss event, and a 9-volt battery-powered power-out alarm keeps watching even through a facility power failure. Counterbalanced hinges hold the lid open past a 45-degree angle so staff have both hands free while loading racks, and two removable inner protective lids cut down on cold air loss every time the freezer is opened.
