Med Spa Crash Cart Guide: What's Inside and How to Choose One
Hospital crash carts are built for code teams. A med spa crash cart needs to be different: a compact cart that handles the emergencies aesthetic practices actually see, like anaphylaxis after injectables, vascular occlusion after filler, vasovagal episodes, and the occasional cardiac event.
What's Inside a Proper Med Spa Crash Cart
Top Drawer: Airway
Oral airways, bag valve mask, portable oxygen with regulator, and suction.
Medications
Epinephrine, auto-injector and vial (Rx); diphenhydramine; aspirin; oral glucose; albuterol inhaler (Rx); hydrocortisone (Rx); and naloxone. If you inject filler, add hyaluronidase (Rx) and warm compresses for vascular occlusion, per your medical director's protocol.
IV Drawer
Catheters in common gauges, IV fluids, tubing, tape, and alcohol prep.
Monitoring
Pulse oximeter, blood pressure cuff, and thermometer. Keep your AED mounted nearby, charged and accessible.
Documentation
Emergency protocol sheets, staff role cards, emergency contact numbers, and a monthly restock log.
(Rx) = prescription item, sourced through your medical director. For the full list, download our free Med Spa Emergency Readiness Checklist.
How to Choose the Right Cart
- Size: a 5 or 6-drawer mobile cart fits most med spas without eating floor space. Lightweight aluminum carts are easy to move between rooms.
- Locking: breakaway seals give you tamper evidence without slowing access in an emergency.
- Restocking: the cart is only as good as its log. Monthly checks, expiry tracking, and a named person responsible.

The Shortcut
Our Aesthetic Emergency Readiness (AER) Bundle is a med spa crash cart that arrives stocked and organized: a Harloff 6-drawer aluminum crash cart with four labeled, non-prescription response kits (vascular occlusion, anaphylaxis response, assessment and monitoring, and documentation with drill and audit logs), for $3,225. Medications, oxygen, IV supplies, and your AED are sourced separately, and the cart gives each one a labeled home. No sourcing five vendors for the kits, and no missed items before inspection.
Note: stock your cart to your state medical board's requirements and your medical director's protocols. This guide covers a common baseline and is not medical or legal advice.
